EPCOT Is Currently Set to Close at 9:00 p.m. for Much of Holiday 2026

EPCOT’s base calendar for the 2026 International Festival of the Holidays shows 30 fewer minutes at the end of the day, while Luminous is scheduled for 9:15 p.m. Here is how to rethink dining, Candlelight Processional, and nighttime attractions.

Travelers visiting Walt Disney World from late November through December 2026 have one meaningful EPCOT change to factor in. For November 27 through December 30, the published base schedule lists a 9:00 a.m. opening and a 9:00 p.m. closing during the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. In prior years, the usual closing time during this holiday stretch had been 9:30 p.m.

That may not sound dramatic, but 30 minutes changes an evening that often combines food booths, shopping, Candlelight Processional, family attractions, and a nighttime spectacular. The calendar also places Luminous: The Symphony of Us at 9:15 p.m., 15 minutes after the scheduled park closing. That combination calls for a more deliberate final stretch, not simply an earlier arrival.

Hours can still receive targeted extensions as dates approach and demand is refined. For now, build around 9:00 p.m. as the practical baseline rather than the extra half-hour offered in previous years. This matters most for travelers who use EPCOT as an evening destination after spending their morning in another park.

The dates and hours affected

The change covers the core holiday period, from Friday, November 27, through Wednesday, December 30, 2026. EPCOT retains a 9:00 a.m. base opening, but its listed closing time is 9:00 p.m. In earlier seasons, the International Festival of the Holidays generally extended operations to 9:30 p.m. This is not an earlier closing across the entire Christmas period; it is a base-calendar departure from the recent pattern for these dates.

December 31 should be handled separately. New Year’s Eve programming does not follow this pattern and typically needs special operating hours, so the 9:00 p.m. closing should not be used to plan that night. On the remaining dates from November 27 through December 30, guests who had counted on a late dinner, an unhurried booth crawl, or one final attraction after the show should reorder their evening.

Candlelight and Luminous now fit together differently

Candlelight Processional at the America Gardens Theatre will be presented at 4:45 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 8:00 p.m. in 2026. Those times are 15 minutes earlier than the 2025 schedule of 5:00 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 8:15 p.m.; they are also 30 minutes earlier than the 2023 times of 5:15 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 8:30 p.m. Moving the final performance creates a clearer transition to the nighttime spectacular.

Luminous: The Symphony of Us is listed at 9:15 p.m. While the park closes at 9:00 p.m., that 15-minute buffer may help guests leaving the 8:00 p.m. performance move toward the lagoon, or exit the park, without mixing as heavily with those seeking viewing space. Anyone attending the 8:00 p.m. Candlelight showing should not expect time for a table-service meal or extensive shopping before Luminous; the practical choice is between a smooth transition to the show and a prompt departure.

Using the final hour without rushing

The lost half-hour matters most to families and parties that save popular attractions for late evening. Frozen Ever After and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure can be especially appealing after dark, when some queues ease. On a non-peak weeknight, joining one of those lines around 8:45 p.m. may allow enough time to finish and find a Luminous viewing spot, but that is not an operational promise or a sound strategy for peak weeks, weekends, or high-wait days.

For a balanced visit, settle dinner and the experience you most want first. If Luminous is essential, allow sensible time to find a spot after your final attraction or after Candlelight; do not schedule two incompatible priorities between 8:00 and 9:15 p.m. Guests who have already seen the show can use the final hour for a World Showcase lap, a snack, or an attraction, while accepting that the available time is shorter than it was with a 9:30 p.m. close.

Extended Evening Hours nights

EPCOT continues to list Extended Evening Hours on most Mondays from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. That window is also 30 minutes shorter than the previous holiday pattern of 9:30 to 11:30 p.m. These nights should not be confused with regular operations for every guest: they have their own access conditions, so travelers need to verify their current resort eligibility and the applicable rules before building an itinerary around them.

For guests who can use that period, the change concentrates more decisions before 9:00 p.m.: the spectacular, dining, and Candlelight all happen during general operations, while later attractions may fit into the extended window. For those who are not eligible, 9:00 p.m. remains the planning cutoff. Do not choose a hotel solely on the assumption that this window will solve the evening; consider whether your stay includes a Monday and whether the experience is worth reshuffling other park days.

Planning around a calendar that can still move

Walt Disney World’s initial hours are often extended closer to travel dates based on attendance and hotel-occupancy projections. Some high-demand dates, weekends, or holiday weeks could therefore receive later closings than 9:00 p.m. Still, that possibility is not a guaranteed operating hour. The sensible decision today is to book meals, return transportation, and childcare around the published close, with an easy alternative if an extension later appears.

Check the official calendar when reserving the park, again when arranging restaurants, and once more in the week before your trip. If your only EPCOT evening falls on a 9:00 p.m. date, keep the list short and protect the experience driving your visit: Candlelight, Luminous, food booths, or two priority attractions. If ticket flexibility allows, saving EPCOT for a Monday with Extended Evening Hours—only if you meet the access conditions—can provide a different structure, but it does not replace confirming the current rules.

The 2026 base calendar does not remove EPCOT’s holiday season or Luminous, but it trims the informal buffer many guests used after dinner or Candlelight. The key is to choose one main evening priority and treat 9:00 p.m. as the general operating limit.

Earlier Candlelight performances at 4:45 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 8:00 p.m., paired with Luminous at 9:15 p.m., create a workable sequence for guests who plan intentionally. By contrast, improvising the final hour can force a choice between an attraction, a strong viewing location, and an easy exit.
