Annual Passholder Reservations Fill Up: What Changes at Disney World This Weekend

Park reservation availability for Annual Passholders closed at three parks on September 26 as Florida residents approached the end of the Discover Disney ticket window. It does not automatically mean physically full parks, but it does change date, park, and timing decisions.
On Saturday, September 26, 2026, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios no longer had park reservations available for Annual Passholders. The development falls within a period that can look quiet because it is September, yet it concentrates specific demand during the final full weekend before a Florida resident ticket offer expires.
The timing matters most for guests traveling from September 25 through 27, as well as those considering the following weekend, October 1 through 3. It is not evidence that the entire season has shifted to a higher crowd level. It is a short window when reservation availability and ticket-use behavior can matter more than a conventional crowd calendar.
For visitors holding regular admission, the takeaway is not to cancel a park day. It is to interpret the situation accurately: a reservation shortage for one guest category does not, by itself, prove a park has reached physical capacity. It does, however, make deliberate park and time choices more valuable and makes it wise to check availability before locking in a vacation day.
What filled up, and who was affected
The closure involved park reservations for Annual Passholders at Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios on September 26. It does not mean every admission path disappeared or that every guest faced the same restriction. Reservations and entry depend on ticket type, inventory assigned to each product, and the rules that apply on that date.
That distinction matters for a Disney resort family, an international guest with date-based tickets, and a local Annual Passholder. Before changing an itinerary, each traveler should check personal eligibility and availability. Seeing no passholder reservations does not establish that a regular dated ticket, a reservation already secured, or a guest arriving later will face the same outcome.
The expiration date concentrating visits
Florida residents’ Summer and Fall 2026 Discover Disney tickets are valid from May 17 through October 3, 2026, and require an advance park reservation. Pricing is $259 plus tax for four days, or $65 per day; $239 plus tax for three days, or $80 per day; and $219 plus tax for two days, or $110 per day.
As October 3 approaches, guests with unused ticket days may try to use them before they expire. That behavior helps explain heavier weekend pressure, especially Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Reservation availability for these tickets is limited, depends on inventory allocated to that product, and is subject to both reservations and park capacity, so travelers should not leave their final eligible day to a last-minute decision.
Full reservations are not the same as extreme waits
Around midday on September 26, wait times did not resemble a holiday-period peak. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind reached 105 minutes. Test Track and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run posted 85; Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring the Muppets, and Twilight Zone Tower of Terror posted 80; Avatar Flight of Passage posted 75.
Toy Story Mania and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway also showed 75 minutes, while Kilimanjaro Safaris and Na’vi River Journey showed 70, and TRON Lightcycle Run showed 65. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was at 55, Space Mountain, Frozen Ever After, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at 45, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at 40. Those numbers call for priorities, but they do not independently describe destination-wide saturation.
How to handle the afternoon with an Annual Pass
Annual Passholders may visit EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios after 2 p.m. without a park reservation. Magic Kingdom is the weekend exception: to enter after 2 p.m. on Saturday or Sunday, a passholder needs a reservation or must have entered another park first and then moved over using Park Hopper.
That rule makes the afternoon a logistics decision, not only a wait-time decision. A passholder without a reservation can direct the day toward EPCOT or Hollywood Studios and save Magic Kingdom for another date. Anyone hoping to end at Magic Kingdom can begin elsewhere if they have Park Hopper, but should account for transportation, travel time, and the fact that this workaround adds steps to an already busier day.
Dates and traveler profiles worth adjusting
This pattern matters most to Florida residents who still have Discover Disney days remaining and to Annual Passholders who usually decide on a visit with little advance notice. It also deserves attention from travelers visiting September 25 through 27 or October 1 through 3 who want the most popular park on a Saturday. For them, booking early is more valuable than chasing the idea of an empty week.
More comfortable weather, the progression of EPCOT’s food-focused season, some early school breaks, and the start of convention season can add visitors. Still, those factors do not carry equal weight or guarantee identical waits. The useful choice is not to treat September as a uniform promise: during this period, keep park order flexible and do not base dining, a late arrival, or a hotel change on availability you have not yet confirmed.
The September 26 situation shows that a filled reservation category can be an access issue for one segment rather than an exact snapshot of crowds inside a park. For resident-ticket holders, October 3 is the pivotal date; for Annual Passholders, post-2 p.m. entry rules create concrete alternatives at two parks.
There is no reason to treat these days like a peak holiday week, but there is also no reason to plan them like an ordinary September day. Reserve what cannot be substituted first, place high-demand attractions early or late, and leave room to change parks if your admission type permits it.
