MCO Luggage Transfer: Which Disney Hotel Guests Can Hand Off Their Bags

Six Walt Disney World hotels participate in a luggage-handling service with four selected airlines. It can simplify arrival and departure, but it requires a smart carry-on plan and does not provide transportation to the resort.

Guests flying into Orlando International Airport (MCO) and staying at certain Walt Disney World hotels may be able to arrange for their checked bags to travel separately from them. The luggage transfer service lets travelers check bags with their airline at the departure airport and head straight to their resort after landing, rather than stopping at MCO baggage claim.

The important detail is that this is not a perk for every Disney hotel or every airline. It is limited to six resorts and to American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines, and JetBlue. For a family traveling with a stroller, multiple bags, or young children, it can remove one awkward part of travel day. For others, the delivery wait may outweigh that convenience.

It is best viewed as a luggage-handling option, not ground transportation or early access to a guest room. Available operational information sets out specific timing for both arrival and departure. Reviewing those details before choosing a hotel, flight, and first-day plans can keep an easy-looking arrival from leaving the party without essential items during its first hours in Orlando.

The six participating hotels should shape the lodging choice

Luggage transfer is available to guests at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and Disney’s Pop Century Resort. That list includes Value options and one Moderate option, Caribbean Beach, so it should not be understood simply as a benefit for the lowest-priced hotels. Eligibility is tied to the specific resort, not to a broad hotel category.

That matters most when location is the priority. These six resorts offer useful connections within the destination, but they are not the closest Disney hotels to every park. A traveler who values proximity to a particular area may find that a preferred alternative does not participate. Before booking, weigh the benefit of avoiding luggage handling against location, room type, bed configuration, and the travel time your actual itinerary requires.

Arrival use requires registration before the flight

To use the service on arrival, a guest must complete the BagCheck registration form in a window from 30 days before the trip through one day, or 24 hours, before the departure flight to Orlando. At the origin airport, travelers follow their airline’s normal bag-drop process. After landing at MCO, they may bypass baggage claim and continue to their resort using the transportation they have arranged.

The registration window is a practical consideration for guests who book flights far in advance or make last-minute changes. Holding a reservation at an eligible hotel is not enough: registration must be completed on time, and the flight must be on one of the four participating airlines. Because baggage rules, restricted items, and fees remain airline-specific, confirm those requirements directly with the airline before packing.

Plan the first part of the day around a wait of up to four hours

Available information indicates that bags can take up to four hours to reach the hotel from the airport. Once they arrive, guests may collect them at the lobby’s Luggage Assistance or Bell Services area, or use the in-room phone to request delivery to the room. The latter can feel especially welcome after a long flight, but it does not remove the transit time between MCO and the resort.

The key decision is what stays with you. Put medications, documents, chargers, a change of clothes, sleepwear, essential toiletries, and anything a child will need during arrival in the carry-on. If a flight lands late, the four-hour window can push access to pajamas or next-day park clothing even later. Do not plan a dinner requiring specific attire or rely on a checked bag for an activity scheduled that same afternoon.

Departure can also remove a line, but its timing is firm

The service also covers the trip home, although the process changes. Beginning 24 hours before the departing flight, travelers must check in online with their airline and pay any applicable bag fees through the airline’s app or website. They then need to bring their bags to Luggage Assistance or Bell Services between 24 and four hours before the scheduled flight departure time.

Guests may take bags to the drop-off area themselves or use the in-room phone to ask Bell Services to move them there. After drop-off, they can travel to MCO without joining the checked-bag line and collect their bags at their final destination. The four-hour cutoff is crucial: a very early flight, a reserved breakfast, or a tightly timed airport transfer may make this less convenient than keeping bags until leaving the resort.

Who gains the most value, and which limits to accept

This arrangement can work particularly well for larger parties, families managing strollers and several bags, or visitors who want to reach their resort with free hands. It may also ease departure day for guests hoping to use the hotel or Disney Springs before leaving, as long as the bag-drop timing fits. No specific price for the service was provided, so it should not be treated as a confirmed budget saving; airline baggage charges remain the traveler’s responsibility.

There are limits worth choosing deliberately: only six resorts participate, only four airlines are listed, and bags do not arrive immediately. Operations may vary by airline or hotel, so confirming current participation, timing, and the exact drop-off point before travel is sensible. If you need belongings as soon as you land, are carrying fragile items, or prefer to oversee every step of your luggage journey, collecting bags at MCO remains the more direct choice.

Luggage transfer can turn an arrival with several suitcases into a lighter start, but it works best when the hotel is participating, the flight is on an eligible airline, and the group accepts that bags may arrive up to four hours later. It does not replace transportation between MCO and the resort, and it does not remove the need for a carefully packed carry-on.

On departure, its main advantage is bypassing the airport bag-check line after completing online check-in, paying any applicable fees, and meeting the bag-drop window of 24 to four hours before the flight. It is a useful logistics tool, not a standalone reason to choose a hotel if another location or room setup better suits your park days.
